According to forecasts, the month of August this year will be distinguished in tourism in the capital.

The World Athletics Championships will start in Budapest in a week, where the organizers are expecting 50,000 foreign guests – this is less than half the number of those who attended last year’s Sziget festival. The organizers reported that the number of tickets sold for the sporting event exceeded 300,000.

The impact of the event can be seen in the data on real estate sales for August – Balaz Nemeth, CEO of the organizing company of the World Athletics Championships and a TV news reader of the previous year, spoke about this. According to him, forecasts show that travelers will spend 200,000 guest nights in the capital, and according to calculations, this is close to HUF 10 billion. (A total of 248 billion HUF was spent on the athletics stadium, making it the most expensive sports facility in Hungary.)
