In an interview with Fox News, Victor Sokin claimed that In 2016, he was replaced by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko because he was investigating the energy company Burisma, on whose board Hunter Biden, son of then-Vice President Joe Biden, was a member.
He also mentioned in the interview that Joe Biden had submitted a request to remove him from the position of Attorney General. In the interview, many also expressed their belief that Joe Biden accepted bribe money from Burisma.
He added that he had no doubts that Burisma was involved in illegal activities, among which Sokin mentioned the illegal extraction and sale of natural gas.
What was said in the interview The White House responded in a statement on Sunday, asserting that the allegations were lies, and that the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office led by Sokin was a “hotbed of corruption.” Reduction of abuses and reforms in Ukraine was not only urged by then-US Vice President Joe Biden, but also by other US diplomats, politicians, and international partners.
