The new MINI Countryman also successfully handles the Scottish Highlands

Lush greenery, bright sunshine, stunning views and stormy curtains of rain at any moment: the Scottish Highlands are unspoiled natural paradises that instantly capture the hearts of visitors. Dense chains of pyramid-shaped mountains reaching nearly 1,000 metres, meandering rivers and crystal clear lakes that reach deep into ancient rocks provide an exhilarating site for outdoor sports enthusiasts – and challenging tracks for the third generation MINI Countryman ready for any adventure.

The journey begins in Stirling, where one of the largest castles in Scotland stands on a volcanic rock called Castle Hill. From here you can enjoy a stunning view of Loch Lomond National Park, home to the UK’s largest lake of the same name. Stirling Castle, which was first described in the 12th century. It was mentioned in a document from the 19th century, was owned by the royal Stuart family, and flourished during the Renaissance.

From Stirling, the A84 and A85 lead north through dense forests, past deep blue lakes, to the small town of Midlakes. The A827 winding along the shores of Loch Tay invites you to explore the northeastern mountains, so that on the winding mountain slopes of the MINI Countryman, the MINI Countryman can demonstrate first-hand the characteristics of comfortable and sporty driving dynamics.

Ben Lawers is one of the highest pyramid-shaped mountain peaks, with a height of 1214 meters, and the surrounding rivers are dammed along it with a length of 344 meters. Equipped with the capabilities of Sports Activity Vehicle models, the MINI Countryman roams home in the pristine landscapes of Scotland, while its spacious trunk provides space for all the equipment needed for adventurous outings.

The varied routes of the Scottish Highlands ignite a thirst for adventure in every visitor. North-West, the A82 leads to Glencoe Heights, a scenic route that winds along cold-water rivers, the freshwater lake Lochan na h-Achlaise and the historic village of Bridge of Orchy.

Behind the bridge over Glen Etive, a narrow path leads south along the Wild River, where several waterfalls plunge deeper and deeper into the valley. The River Etive offers visitors one of the most challenging white water rafting experiences in Scotland, so it’s no wonder that Daniel Craig, who played secret agent 007, evaded his pursuers on the banks of this river in Skyfall. However, the MINI Countryman ALL4, which is equipped with off-road tyres, handles road conditions in the south better than the world’s most famous secret agent’s sports car.

Along the A82 motorway towards Araucar, the Falloch Falls provide a private stop. Continuing south, visitors are greeted with a view of Loch Lomond on the left until the junction with the A83 leads to the western side of Loch Fyne, the northern end of the Strait of Clyde jutting out from the Atlantic Ocean.

The tides can be felt as far as Glasgow Harbour, and because of the associated currents, the waters of Loch Fyne are exceptionally fresh and rich in nutrients. An ideal setting for shellfish and the most varied species of fish, the Loch Fyne Oysterbar welcomes guests with incomparable gourmet experiences – of course with stunning views of the sea and mountains.
