The claim that if you listen to your own song for 30 seconds without stopping, you can earn $1,200 a month is not true. The CEO of the music streaming service denied the news, A.S. reported Sky News.
Analysts at a US bank estimated that if someone uploaded a 30-second song to Spotify and then programmed their phone to listen to it repeatedly 24 hours a day, they would receive $1,200 in royalties.
But Spotify head Daniel Ek said that’s not true.
In response to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) citing Accelerate Financial Technologies CEO Julian Klymochko’s claim, the Spotify CEO wrote:
“If that were true, my playlist would just be a 30-second Daniel song on repeat!”
If that were true, my playlist would be “Daniel’s Jam 30 Second” on repeat! 😉 But seriously, that’s not how our property system works.

After the post, he got serious and explained how Spotify’s legal system is structured. Artists are not paid based on plays or streaming numbers, he said.
Royalty payments that artists receive may vary depending on how their music is broadcast or agreements with labels or distributors
He said.
He added that royalty payments are made once a month and their amount depends on the agreement concluded with the record company or distributor.
