The Italian Football Federation announced on its official website that the captain of the Italian national team, Roberto Mancini, who led the team to win the European Championship, has resigned from his position.
The association announces in a statement that it has accepted the specialist’s resignation, and is continuously working to find a suitable successor as soon as possible. The Italian Federation confirms that Mancini has achieved great success with the national team since 2018, the culmination of which, of course, is the 2021 European Championship title. The joint adventure – after 61 matches – ended after the 2023 Nations League final, in which the Azzurri reached third place.
The Italians are in the third group in the qualifiers for the European Championship 2024 in Germany, where they lost for the first time 2-1 at home to the English last March, then they won 2-0 at home against Malta. Since the Italian national team will play important matches on September 10 and 12 (in addition, for the first time against North Macedonia, which knocked them out of the World Cup last time), the Federation will appoint a successor to the outgoing captain of the Italian national team. Coming days.
Roberto Mancini achieved 39 wins, 13 draws and 9 losses with the national team in 61 matches.
