Corn producers can receive total compensation of €16 million.

Under the decree of Agriculture Minister István Nagy published on Wednesday evening, “in order to partially compensate for the economic loss incurred due to increased import of corn from Ukraine,” those who produce corn on an area not exceeding 100 hectares of its area may be entitled to an area of ​​up to 500 hectares. The farmer must have applied for basic income support in the consolidated application for the year 2023, and must not be subject to liquidation, liquidation or bankruptcy procedures.

The agricultural producer can submit a support request to the National Payment Agency between October 1 and 15 on the electronic interface prepared for this purpose. To prove eligibility, proof of sales of 10 tons is sufficient. If the application is approved, the funds will be paid by the end of the year.

Farmers can get support from EU sources after the European Commission’s decision.
