There are three Hungarian players on the draft list of the newly formed Women’s Professional Hockey League

Three Hungarian national team players, Fanny Jarat Gasparics, as well as naturalized Becker Taylor and Née Sára, are on the draft roster of the newly formed Overseas Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL).

The league announced on Wednesday the six interested teams — Montreal, Toronto, New York, Boston, Ottawa and Minneapolis — that could select next Monday, and among them is 28-year-old Toronto-born Jarrat Gasparics, who moved to Hungary in 2020. Becker is 26 years old.

In the previous season, they both played in the PHF League, which was canceled in the summer, striker Jarat Gasparics at the Metropolitan Riveters, and defender Becker at the Montreal Force.

Defenseman Knee — who the PWHL originally classified as a Canadian player and did not indicate was also a Hungarian citizen — has been hired by Finnish outfit KalPa for the 2022/23 call-up.

Jarrat Gasparics, who signed a contract with Swedish team Brennas on Tuesday until November 5, has 14 points (7 goals, 7 assists) in 24 games, while Becker also produced 9 points (1, 8) in 24 games last season.

In Monday’s draft, the six teams can select 15 players each. The first season begins in January and continues until the end of May or the beginning of June. Each team plays 24 regular season games.
