The Budapest Symphony Concerto Orchestra performed in Ireland on 19 September 2023, as a poster on the streets of Dublin bears witness to. The poster – sent by one of our readers – shows the orchestra giving a concert at the National Concert Hall under the direction of András Keller and with the participation of French pianist Pierre-Laurent Eimard. A quote from The Times can also be read: “This Hungarian orchestra is very good.”
12-17 September Between 2016 and 2018, Pierre-Laurent Aimard’s piano solos will be performed in six locations and three different programs in the finest concert halls in the UK and Ireland, in Croydon, Guildford, London, Cheltenham, Edinburgh and Dublin. According to the orchestra’s website, András Keller considers the tour, during which works by Bartók, Lisz, Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven and Mozart, to be of great importance.
András Keller, director of the Budapest Concerto Orchestra, has been in the news recently because he has applied for the position of Dean of the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music. At the end of the application process, the new dean will replace Andrea Vig at the helm of the Academy of Music on 1 November.
