European sports shooting champion Istvan Benny won with a national record 468.5 shots in the men’s 50m three-position rifle event at II. The International Masped Shooting Cup competition takes place on Friday at the National Shooting Range in Fehér út.
According to information from the Hungarian Federation, Benny handed over his record of 466.9 laps to the past. Swedish Markus Madsen was able to take second place on the podium with 463.9 laps, and Slovakian Patrik Jani, who performed the best in the main competition – with 591 laps – came in third place.
“In the final, I finished with an average of over 10.4 laps, which was great. I also shot with a good rhythm with 586 shots in the base, but today I was not able to eliminate the strong, rotating wind. This competition was a good test for the World Championships in Baku” Stephen Benny said.
The most successful Hungarian sports shooter at the European Games, Zalán Pikler, who finished second in the main competition with 590 rounds on Friday, finished sixth with 417.1 rounds. For the women, Esther Mazaros won the silver medal with 454.6 shots after a basic production of 577, behind Finland’s Marianne Pallo.
