Last week, the Malmö City Planning Office held its annual management meeting, where the city council’s 180 employees were served vegetarian meals. However, due to some incidents, pork was placed on guests’ plates after following a meat-free diet for moral and/or religious reasons, causing great surprise and indignation.
According to Lotta Hanson, spokeswoman for the city planning office, the situation was very unfortunate because “the employees ate the food thinking it was vegetarian.”
Earlier this year, the city of Malmö banned serving meat at all events held in the city for environmental reasons. For this reason, the organizers requested meat-free dishes, but due to the restaurant’s mistake, minced meat ended up in the dishes, which shocked the employees, he said. morningsweden.de.
During the meal, some employees became suspicious and repeatedly asked whether they were really eating vegetarian food.
To make up for the mistake, the restaurant eventually issued an invoice for 40,000 krona (more than 1,300,000 HUF) and admitted the intercom failure.
However, the frustrated and angry guests were not satisfied, and at their request, the City of Malmö appointed an employment lawyer to investigate their entitlement to compensation.
The attorney concluded that although the city could not take action against the restaurant, those affected could take action individually through their individual representatives.
