Perth curlers capped an incredible run of form by winning a prestigious title in Canada.
Robin Brydon and Duncan McFadzian, who play for White alongside skip Ross White and Ewan Kyle, took victory in the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic.
They had reached their third successive final, and having lost the previous two to fellow Scottish side Mowat, there was an added determination to get the job done.
Standing in the way of the trophy in Ontario was Olympic champion Eden.
It was a tough battle throughout, but the Whites won 7-6 after extra time.
“It’s been a great start to the season,” said Brydon, a former Perth High School student.
“If you had told us we would have made it to three finals, won one title and been in another semi-final in the three events we have done so far, we would have bitten your hand off.
“However, success at the start of the season does not mean anything unless we can move on and start going deeper into the Grand Slams.
“So I think the next thing is to go to our first Slam next season and see how far we can go.
“From there we want to try to close the gap with Mowat and try to put ourselves in a good place to go to the World Championships.”
Team White was required to mount a stunning comeback in the quarterfinals against a top Canadian team skipped by former world champion Brad Gushue.
“Giving Gushue a 5-0 lead in the opening end was probably not our first plan of play,” added vice-captain Bridoni with a smile.
“However, it shows how far we have come as a team that we can bounce back from some adversity
“We had to face a top team in the world and we came out with the win in the end. Overall, we’ve had some really good performances recently.
Commenting on winning the final and winning the title, skip Ross White said: “That was a very good match of curling.
“We knew it was always going to be very tough against a great team, so it was great to come out on top after reaching the finals in the previous two events.
“We’ve been a little unlucky all week, but it looks like this is our week this time.”
Their win in the biggest event of the season so far, which included the top four in the men’s world rankings, completed a run that has seen British curling teams reach the finals of every event they entered over the past month in Canada.
White added: “It seems like people are really starting to notice Scotland as a country of real power, so it’s great to be helping to lead this campaign.”
