A new member has been elected to the Curling Canada Board of Governors
Two governors have been re-elected, and a new governor has been elected to the Curling Canada Board of Governors, it was confirmed Saturday at the organization’s annual general meeting.
Curling’s governing body in Canada held its virtual annual general meeting on Saturday, bringing together Canada’s 14 member associations along with invited guests to talk about the past season, as well as electing new members to the Board of Governors.
Three positions were available after Edmonton’s Roselle Gonsalves and Ottawa’s Scott Hindle completed their terms, and Calgary’s Amy Nixon left the board in July after voluntarily returning to the board earlier in the season to help hire four new governors.
Gonsalves and Hindle both ran for re-election and won two four-year terms.
Newcomer Jeremy Wu of Winnipeg was also elected to a two-year term.
These three join fellow Conservatives Ray Baker of Dauphin, Man., Jennifer Howard of Curtis, Ont., Cathy O’Rourke of Cumberland, Prince Edward Island, Darren Oreniak of Winnipeg, Terry Palinkuk of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Calvin Seaman of Calgary, and Michael Szajewski. From Kenora, Ontario.
Szajewski was re-elected Chairman of the Board of Governors.
“We continue to make big steps forward as a sport and as an organisation, and I know our Board of Directors is ready to contribute in any way we can, as we have a shared vision and ambition together with our Member Associations to make our sport better and more welcoming to everyone,” said Szajewski. I have this opportunity and look forward to the next season of working with my fellow governors.
“We are in good hands for the rest of this year with Danny Lamoureux serving as our interim CEO,” Szajewski added. “The process of identifying a new full-time CEO is well under way, and we are excited to see this search well underway because we know there are some great candidates out there.”
