Kolink Blog: Autumn brings new homes

The company is expanding its reach with two new PC cases, one of which is Unity, and the other is coming to the Observatory family.

To the delight of Autumn and those thinking of building a computer, the Kolink offer has been expanded with two new housings: the Observatory family has a model with HF suffix, charged for ventilation, while the Unity series has been enriched with a version bearing the name Lateral, equipped with a particularly eye-catching front panel.

[+]

Starting with the latter, this Lateral is a case equipped to receive E-ATX – or smaller – sized motherboards, which have dimensions of 510 x 230 x 455 mm (H x W x D) on the outside. Inside, we find a classic two-chamber design, in the lower part, in addition to the power supply, there are drawers for 3.5-inch hard drives (2 pieces). Additionally, two 2.5-inch drives can be placed at the back of the motherboard tray, so there’s no barrier to growing terabytes. It is possible to place seven expansion cards, and there is also an option to mount VGA vertically, the support frame required for this being part of the housing.

Since the Lateral is a performance-focused machine case, there are quite a few options in terms of ventilation and cooling: three 12 or 14cm fans can be placed behind the front panel, another three fans on top and another 12cm unit in the device. The back can remove hot air. If that’s not enough, two additional 12cm air motors can be mounted on the right side panel. The spacious interior also accommodates water-cooled radiators: they can be expanded up to 420 mm at the front and 240 mm at the top and sides.

By the way, the factory equipment is Side performance unit It has three black 12cm fans that are controlled by PWM, while In the side unit There are 12cm Umbra S fans with ARGB lighting, three behind the front panel and one on the back. The side profile is very generous in terms of the VGA modules that can be installed, as it can accommodate graphics cards up to 410mm long, and the maximum processor cooler height is 185mm.

Moving on to the exterior, which is also the biggest innovation of the side model, a hinged tempered glass panel on the left side allows the interior to be seen, and on the upper and right sides, mesh-protected ventilation grilles ensure entry of fresh air. The connectors lined up on the right edge of the lid are one Type-C, two Type-A (one USB 3.0, one USB 2.0) and two audio jacks. The front panel consists of parallel panels arranged vertically, which provide an almost perfect passage for airflow, plus it also allows the ARGB lights to escape.

Another novelty, the HF Observatory (available with a web interface In black, In whiteOr in the same colors but from the front Also covered with glass), and its dimensions are 449 x 200 x 390 mm (height x width x depth). As with observatory houses in general, here too, the hardware is fully visible, which goes inside ready to receive dual-chamber ATX motherboards.

The left side has a full glass panel, and the front panel provides a perfect view of the fans behind it – three 14cm Umbra ARGB fans to be exact, complemented by three more 12cm Umbra ARGB fans, two on top and one placed at the back. Incidentally, this largely covers the high-frequency reception capacity of the observatory, although if someone wanted to, they could also mount two 12cm air motors to the plate covering the power supply. If we want water cooling, the front panel (max. 360mm) and back panel (120mm) can be taken into consideration.

There are plenty of options for data storage: In front of the power supply, there’s a combined 3.5″/2.5″ tray and one 3.5″ tray, and there are two 2.5″ spaces at the back of the motherboard tray. There is room for seven expansion cards, the maximum VGA length can reach 330mm, and the maximum CPU cooler height is 160mm. The connection panel has also been moved to the right edge of the top side of this computer case and contains two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0, and the usual audio connectors.
