The Tosvanius student camp, free university and festival have become a landmark in the lives of Hungarians over the past 32 years.
In 1989, several young Hungarian and Transylvanian politicians founded the Free University as an opportunity for dialogue between Romanians and Hungarians. The first event was held in 1990. Over the years, the large-scale intellectual workshop in the Carpathian Basin has developed into a colorful festival.
The valley welcomes daily more than 16,000 hikers, who come every year with a lot of programs, attracting more and more people interested to spend time together. Every age group can find the event that suits them best at Tosvanios.
For many, the festival also provides guidance for the future.
Every year, the Prime Minister makes some sort of program speech. It analyzes the processes taking place in the world and in Hungary and sets guidelines and tasks for the coming period. His speeches define and determine the theme of public discourse in the coming year.
In Tosvanios, it’s all about peace this year. “The meetings, the fun, the cold beer, the refreshing shade, the smell of the pine trees, the hugs, the music, the silence of the morning, the descending mist that covers the mountains gives peace.” – Write the organizers.
