The Hamas leader sent a message that armed Palestinian groups may advance towards Jerusalem

In his televised speech, Haniyeh addressed the Arab countries that recently normalized relations with Israel. He stated that no country, including those in the Arab community, should expect protection from an entity that cannot defend itself against resistance. He added that normalization agreements with Israel will not solve the ongoing Palestinian conflict.

A senior Hamas leader previously stated on Saturday that Hamas is preparing for long-term fighting after today’s attack, and according to one of the movement’s senior leaders, the fronts will expand, and all scenarios are possible.

Reuters reports that Israel normalized relations with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain in 2020, while also strengthening relations with Morocco and Sudan. This is despite the fact that negotiations with the Palestinians have been stagnant for several years. Saudi Arabia, a regional power, is currently negotiating with the United States to normalize relations with Israel, a move criticized by some Palestinian factions.

Haniyeh also announced this

Palestinian armed groups plan to expand the current conflict in Gaza to the West Bank and Jerusalem.

He stated that “the fighting has moved to the heart of the Zionist entity.”
