The President of the Republic and Tony Abbott discussed possible measures against the demographic ice age, and after the face-to-face meeting, important representatives of Australian society also joined the meeting.

Katalin Novak said that Hungary’s family policy goes against the trend, because it really emphasizes family-centeredness. Population decline has been going on for 40 years, but in addition to solving demographic challenges, a family-friendly approach and protecting traditional family values are also very important, he noted, adding that he is ready to share details on family-friendly measures. He stated that the Budapest Demographic Summit is being held in Hungary for the fifth time this year, which has been organized every two years since 2015.

Katalin Nowak said that approximately one hundred thousand Hungarians live in Australia, form a community and nurture Hungarian culture and traditions, and are therefore able to maintain their Hungarian identity. He emphasized that

One of the goals of his visit to Australia was to maintain contact with Hungarians, and since the Hungarian diaspora is important in Australia, he wanted to commemorate the 1956 Revolution and the freedom struggle with them.

On Tuesday, Katalin Nowak also visited the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where she spoke with Cecilia Hartmann, the kayaker who finished fourth at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.

She spoke about the Olympic Games that were held a month after the revolution was crushed, as well as about the family separation that left permanent scars.

– Read the publication of the President of the Republic in which he drew attention to the fact that as a result of the revolution and communist repression hundreds of Hungarian families were torn apart, and on October 23 we will remember them too.

On Tuesday, Katalin Novak laid memorial flowers at a football statue of Ferenc Puskas, who was a coach in Melbourne.

The President of the Republic’s visit to Australia has three axes, the first is to maintain relations with Hungary, and the second is to build relations between the two countries and the family-friendly international coalition.

Tuesday was all about the latter. Within the framework of strengthening relations between the two countries, Katalin Nowak met with Margaret Ellen Gardner, Governor of the State of Victoria, in Melbourne, where they also discussed with her the role of women and strengthening economic relations, Farkas Vajk, and communications. Sandor Palace Director told public media on Tuesday.

The President of the Republic then presented the demographic challenges facing Western civilization in Sydney, as well as measures to strengthen Hungarian families and encourage childbearing at the Australian Catholic University, where he met with key players in Australian economic and public life. The communications director said, adding:

Katalin Novak also spoke about the HUmanity Tuesdays initiative, which she started with Elon Musk, and to which more than one hundred thousand people answered her last question, and the majority of participants want many children, so it is the duty of politics to help in this.
