It’s official: The women’s table tennis team can also compete in the World Cup

It has become official that the Hungarian women’s national team can also participate in next year’s World Team Table Tennis Championships in Busan, South Korea.

The men’s team was already eliminated from the European Championship in Malmo last September, after finishing in the eight with a brave performance.

According to the rules, those who qualify for the quarter-finals of the continental competition automatically qualify, with four additional places going to the eighth-round teams that occupy the best position in the world rankings for the month of October. The Hungarian women’s national team is ranked best among the eliminated teams in the last rankings, so they could be there in the Republic of Korea.

The Olympic Qualifying World Cup will be held in Busan from February 16 to 25, and the quarter-finalists will advance to Paris. The Hungarian Federation offered the players 3 million Hungarian forints each if they could reach the top eight.
