There is a place to go even in the cold

There is a place to go even in the cold

Disaster management is prepared for every disaster imaginable, from scorching summers to extreme winter weather

– A spokesman for the Csongrád-Csanád District Disaster Management Directorate told our newspaper. Christina Molnar added that if the problem is that big, disaster management could open warming centers where everyone has to let cold people in. Although it seems that this will not happen at the moment, it is good to know where to go if you can’t take it anymore at home, or if you get caught in a terrible snow storm on the street.

According to the table on the website of the National Directorate for Disaster Management, there are 3,085 such places in Hungary. However, they are without exception a type of institution, or perhaps a store. In other words, it is currently operating in its original function, serving as a warming place for residents only in case of damage or when an emergency is requested, based on special measures.

In Chongrad-Ksanad District, 63 such places have been allocated, divided by region. There are six such places in Szeged, and the interesting thing is that they are all shopping centers. It is especially interesting that the seats are also specific. For example, Nova can accommodate 500 people in an emergency, but Tesco and Arcade at Ruckus can each accommodate 2,000 people. With the exception of Szeged, schools or mayor’s offices and institutions are usually opened in other settlements, where of course they can accommodate much fewer people than in large shopping centers.

Of course, we hope that no one will have to look for temporary housing, but it is good to know that there is also a possibility, if the worst happens and winter comes with snowfall and major negatives.
