Among the solutions based on virtual and augmented reality (VR, AR), four interesting and important developments were selected for the list of the 200 best inventions of the year by the American magazine TIME.

Surgical AR

If medicine is one of the most exciting application areas of virtual and augmented reality. The SurgicalAR solution offered by New York-based Medivis could be a big help for surgeons: doctors have to monitor a monitor or the patient during surgery, but Medivis combines the two with the help of a wearable device. While the doctor is performing the operation on the patient, the device projects the most important information before his eyes, onto the patient’s body, so that performing complex interventions, such as removing a brain tumor, is much faster and easier. Doctors at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, which was created to treat cancer patients, are already using the device.

Apple Vision Pro

Naturally, Apple’s new product introduced this summer, the Vision Pro glasses, cannot be left out of the list. This could be the company’s biggest launch since the iPhone was introduced in 2007.

At the presentation, a lot was said and shown about the Vision Pro glasses coming in early 2024 – you can read about them by clicking here – but the main point can also be seen in the video below.

surface space sight

A few years ago, Tamir Berliner and Tomer Kahan, two Israeli developers, left Magic Leap, a company developing augmented reality glasses, to bring augmented reality to a wider audience through their own company, Sightfull.

Their first device was Spacetop: a virtual computer whose 100-inch screen appears as soon as the user puts on the glasses. The device can be controlled using a wireless keyboard and trackpad. It may appear on store shelves sometime in 2024, but a small circle is already testing the development.

Hologram Zoo

A place called Hologram Zoo has opened its doors in Australia, and it’s exactly what its name suggests: a zoo where there are holograms instead of animals. According to Hologram Zoo CEO Bruce Dell, by building a massive factory and conducting all development in-house, they were able to reduce previous costs by 95 percent while maintaining the experience.
