The coronavirus epidemic had the strongest impact on passenger traffic in April, which is also evident from the data: compared to April 2019, Liszt Ferenc International Airport handled a total of only 9,870 passengers in the entire month, compared to 1337871 last year.
The average daily passenger traffic in April of last year was about 44,500.
That number was 329 passengers / day in April of this year and it was a day when it did not reach 180 people.
Last April, the number of takeoffs and landings reached 10,034 planes, while there were only 1,129 flight movements in the same month of this year.

From May 1, WizzAir flights will reopen from Liszt Ferenc International Airport, which has been temporarily suspended by the airline due to reduced passenger traffic due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In May, the cities of Athens, Barcelona, Basel, Berlin, Birmingham, Dortmund, Eindhoven, Gothenburg, Liverpool, London, Madrid, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Stockholm and Targu-Morris can be reached from Budapest.

In May, another airline will fly again from Budapest; From the beginning of May, KLM’s flight to Amsterdam will operate daily, and on May 16, the Eurowings flight to Düsseldorf will resume two days a week.
In the past week (between 5 and 11 May), there were a total of about 100 departures and arrivals to and from Budapest, for a total of 16 cities.
Starting in June, several airlines will be gradually relaunched at Liszt Ferenc International Airport: British Airways Budapest-London, Eurowings Budapest-Stuttgart, Jet2 Leeds and Manchester, Qatar Airways Budapest-Doha and Budapest-Zurich, Switzerland.
Starting in the second month of summer, Emirates is planning to launch a direct flight between Budapest and Dubai, and Ryanair recently announced that it will resume 90 percent traffic and most of its airline network bases from early July.

Budapest Airport is constantly working for the smooth operation of air cargo transportation even during the outbreak of the Coronavirus, as it is of utmost importance in providing health care in addition to supporting the national economy.
Dedicated shipping customers (Cargolux, Korean Air, Qatar Airways Cargo, Turkish Shipping Company) operate on a scheduled basis, similar to the merger companies (DHL Express, Fedex, TNT Express and UPS). In addition to scheduled air cargo flights, there are also a number of private charter flights to Liszt Ferenc International Airport.
