After the recent elections, Polish President Andrzej Duda will soon announce who will be the country’s new prime minister. According to a statement by one of the head of state’s subordinates. The announcement is expected to be made tonight
Marcin Mastaleric, head of the Duda Chancellery, shared on X (formerly Twitter) that “after extensive consultations and study” the head of state has reached a final decision on the first step in forming the government. He also noted that President Duda intends to deliver a televised speech on Monday to announce this decision.
The Law and Justice Party has dominated Polish political life for the past eight years.
But although they won the elections held on October 15, they lost their absolute majority. Therefore, it seems unlikely that they will get a coalition partner.
On the other hand, three pro-European parties have won a majority in Parliament and are ready to form a coalition government led by Donald Tusk.
