Scientific conference entitled “Ethnographic Research in the Present”. MNM Forgách-Liptay Castle Museum It was organized by the MNM Palóc Museum on the proposal of the Miskolc District Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in the city on the banks of the Eboli River.

The cooperation between the provinces of Hévíz, Borsod and Nograd goes back half a century, and we are confident that this event will add to the collected knowledge of Baloux and deepen our knowledge – said Dr. Agnes Lengyel, President of the Ballock Museum.

Dr. Gabor Limbacher, Institutional Director of the Czesseny Museum, emphasized the role of historian Ivan Nagy at the press conference of the conference. I believe that in our fast-paced world, ethnographers play a very important role in influencing the future and achieving our goals. In his speech, Dr. Petrčak Tivadar, Chairman of the Ethnography Committee of the MTA Miskolc Academic Committee, emphasized that the museums in the three provinces have acquired serious scientific potential. – In addition to exhibitions, research is also an important task for museums. Now we can work on a theme through which past and present processes can be examined, which is typical of Palócsag. The head of the specialized committee said that it is important that the research results become part of public awareness and that we mobilize people interested in ethnography and traditions.
In his greeting, Nandor Skozzi, President of the Nograd County Municipal Assembly, referred to the mission of shaping the future by preserving the values of Nograd. – I ask researchers to help the work of activists in public life, so that in this world of lost value we can show the way for today’s generation so that they can be proud of their values and be able to thrive here locally – stressed Nandor Skozzi.
The mission of museums is to preserve and transmit values
At the press conference, Vice-President of the Borsod-Abaj-Zemplén District Association, Gergely Szabó, drew attention to the fact that the work of researchers serves as the basis, through them we can learn about, interpret and preserve the past. The values that the past has bequeathed to us. – Our mission is to leave this treasure as a legacy for the future and show people today why this value is important to them. The Vice President explained that the role of the museum is not to be a closed unit, but to spread the word about researching and learning as much as possible about the past, making it timeless and accessible.
Professor Dr. Károly Köcsis, regular member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and President of the MAB of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, detailed the importance of science in ethnographic research and the preservation of traditions. At the conference, a number of ethnographers, Dr. Tivadar Petrčak, Professor Dr. Karoly Kocsis, Dr. Gabor Limbacher and Peter Maxo are Roman Catholic priests.
