Billie Jean King Trophy: Debut with Italian and Canadian rights

Italy and Canada won the first match in the final of the Billie Jean King Cup, the competition hosted by Seville.

Italy qualifies for France with a score of 2-1 in Group D facing Germany.

Alize Cornet (118 professional players) emerged in her first match with Martina Trevisan (43 professional players) by 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Caroline Garcia (world record 20) defeated Yasmine Paolini in three sets (30 WTA Championships) 7-6(6), 5-7, 6-4. Garcia hit the opening kick in the first game, and was in the deciding set at 4-2.
