There is a chance that the three Hungarian hostages will be released

Foreign and Trade Minister Peter Szijjártó announced in Zurich on Wednesday that there is a chance that three Israeli hostages who also hold Hungarian citizenship will be released. “Three of the five hostages who hold Hungarian nationality fall within the category that Hamas can release within the framework of the temporary ceasefire agreement in Gaza,” the minister said, according to the MTI report.

Szijjarto said that there are ongoing contacts with the relevant Israeli working group, as well as with the Qatari leadership, which plays an important role as a mediator. On Wednesday, he also held consultations with his Qatari counterpart, who asked him to continue doing everything in his power to release the Hungarian hostages as soon as possible.

Szijjarto welcomed the temporary ceasefire agreement, which he hopes will be followed by other agreements, after which all the abductees will be able to return to their homes. “The news has made clear the group of hostages that can be expected to be released. In this regard, there are three hostages who hold Hungarian nationality and fall within the announced categories.”

“We very much hope that the three, if possible, will be among those dismissed. We do not have any information or guarantees on this matter yet.”

Sjjarto said.

The Foreign Minister added that the Israeli authorities have not yet sent information to the Hungarian government or the family members of the hostages. He said, “Until all five Hungarian hostages are safe, Hungary demands that Hamas release the hostages, and the international community demands that it stand up to Hamas and make clear that all hostages must be released.”

a The Times of Israel According to his report, although the hostage release agreement and four-day truce were concluded early Wednesday morning, it could not take effect until Thursday at the earliest. Although details have not yet been announced, it is expected that the hostages will be released in groups of 12 to 13 people. According to the Israeli media, according to the hostage deal, 30 children, 8 mothers, and 12 women will be released in Gaza, but according to Israel, Hamas may know the whereabouts of 30 other hostages (women and children), and therefore the truce will continue. It will be extended if their release is also agreed upon.

In return, Israel releases Palestinian women and minors from Israeli prisons and allows them to return to their homes, especially in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
