Today is Tuesday; Support Canadian wrestlers by donating to the WCL – Wrestling Canada Lutte

OTTAWA – Today, November 28th^yAnd so is Giving Tuesday! An annual international movement dedicated to giving. Many organizations that support many causes hope that Canadians will heed the call and donate to a cause important to them. The Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) is no different as the costs of developing programs, wrestlers and competing around the world increase every year.

As the official governing body for the national sport of Olympic wrestling in Canada, the WCL is responsible for selecting and preparing Canadian teams that participate in international competitions including the Continental Championships, World Championships and major multi-sport games (such as the Olympic Games).

The mission of the WCL is to provide leadership, support and safety at a national level to athletes and other participants striving for success on the international platform with a vision to achieve sustainable international excellence through the growth of wrestling in Canada. Key areas of focus include: culture, governance and management, podium performance, return to sport through development, and promotion of sport.

To achieve these responsibilities and goals, significant resources are needed. That’s why on GivingTuesday, the WCL is asking the wrestling community to support these and other initiatives.

WCL, as a federally incorporated not-for-profit corporation and a Registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association (RCAAA), is able to issue charitable tax receipts for income tax purposes when donations are received from individuals and corporations. Tax receipts are available for donations over $50.00. Please refer to WCL’s Donations and Tax Receipts Policy for further details.

Donors may request that 100% of their donations be used for WCL programs such as:

• National junior team
• National under-23 team
• Senior national team
• Olympic team
• Searching for gold
