Poroshenko was stopped at the Polish border. According to him, he wanted to travel abroad to negotiate an end to the blockade imposed on trucks at the border.
The Ukrainian politician had obtained permission to leave Ukraine, but the border guards informed him that the permission had been canceled and that he could not go to Poland. Oleksandr Kornienko, an influential member of the Ukrainian parliament, confirmed that he decided to cancel the license because he “received a letter” justifying this. He did not mention what was contained in the letter or who received it.
After the incident, Poroshenko announced that a “political attack” had been launched against him. Despite being an opposition politician, Poroshenko initially supported Zelensky’s government wholeheartedly when the Russian invasion began. But since this summer, he has become increasingly critical of the current leader because, in his opinion, he is moving too slowly regarding the process of Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the European Union.
