Peyton Manning’s question to “Up & Adams” host and self-proclaimed Cincinnati Bengals fan Kay Adams during Monday night’s ManningCast on ESPN2, which saw the Bengals win in overtime over the Jaguars in Jacksonville, was this: “Kay , you’re from Chicago, but you’ve become an avid Bengals supporter over the past two years. My question is: Do Bears fans give you a hard time, or do they actually understand because some of them wish they had a different team to root for, too?”
“You know, Chicago fans are not happy with me,” Adams replied. “But, you know, Eli used a relationship metaphor earlier in the broadcast, and it was the same old story from before I was born in Chicago. Things got a little old, I was looking for a warm embrace and I fell into my arms with a beautiful new love before the 2021 season. With Burrow and Chase, I didn’t really understand why everyone on board wasn’t sharing what was going on over there. Then it was a trip to the Super Bowl, where they were, “I’m trying to come back and win. With this guy (Jake Browning), probably the best quarterback I’ve ever seen in seven days.”
Moments after her response, Adams screamed as receiver Ja’Marr Chase caught a 76-yard touchdown pass from Browning to give the Bengals the lead early in the second half.
“Listen, this guy is on fire,” Adams added. “I mean, I nailed it. Let’s be honest. I showed up on the (ManningCast). They started feeding their best receiver. … I couldn’t appreciate Browning not panicking more. Not panicking, getting the ball to your best playmaker.” “Chef’s Kiss. Love it.”
She later apologized for yelling.
Adams was one of three guests on the NFL Week 13 ManningCast, along with Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and former Bengals receiver Chad Johnson, also known as Ochocinco.
Tagovailoa told Manning’s team that Browning likely approached his second NFL start “in a way like you need to do something now for the organization to prove yourself, that you belong in the league.”
