Reba McEntire is the queen of country, but she’s passing the torch on “The Voice.”
Reba singer Ruby Lee He gave a stunning rendition of McEntire’s song “You Lie” during the first round of live shows Monday night. Each of the top 12 contestants took to the stage for an individual performance that will determine who will advance to the semi-finals of Season 24.
The teen singer’s soulful vocals won the admiration of Lee’s superstar coach, Niall Horan.
“There’s never been a time I’ve performed on this show where I haven’t had goosebumps. That was special the way that story was sold,” Horan said. “I loved that (you were) looking to Reba for approval. It was a really sweet moment between the coach and the singer, but Ruby, you’re crazy.
Lee’s performance also earned the approval of McEntire, who was moved to tears when the 16-year-old performed a cover of her 1990 hit.
“It blew him out of the water. It was absolutely amazing,” McIntyre said. “The best thing you can do is connect with the person while singing. I certainly did. Gwen and I scream.

The energetic performance even sparked some good-natured envy from McIntyre, Which switched to BIAS during blind testing Earlier in the season.
“That’s why I want you on my team,” McIntyre said. “Oh my God, you’re good. Well, that’s a great performance.”
Meanwhile, coach Gwen Stefani praised BIAS for his uniqueness as an artist.
“It’s like a dream to have her on my team and have that connection,” Stephanie said. “You just keep being you. You’re the purest person I’ve ever met.”
