Be the force behind their potential by investing in an athlete’s Olympic journey
I’ve dreamed of becoming Canada’s Olympic boxing champion since I was a little girl. Being a competitive athlete comes naturally in my family. I was born in St. George, Quebec, and when my father, Patrick Thibault, was drafted by the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders, we moved to Saskatchewan.
I started boxing when I was 10 years old, motivated by my father’s off-season training regimen. Boxing is where we connect. It brought us together and made us stronger. He was my coach for a few years before I moved back to Montreal.
Boxing is a big part of my identity and I love every minute of it: I love competing, being in the ring and training in the gym. Boxing is where I feel most myself, and given my connection to my father, it is very close to my heart.
When women’s boxing was added to the Olympic program for the London 2012 Olympics, my dream came true and I have been working towards it for the past ten years. Canada has a rich history of success in boxing and I want to expand that legacy and lead the charge to the top of the podium.
With recently winning gold at the 2023 Pan American Games and booking my ticket to Paris, this dream is one step closer to becoming a reality. It proves that with hard work, a dedicated team and a nation of supporters behind you, great things can happen.
All of Team Canada’s athletes are working hard for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. But we can’t do it alone.

Even in individual sports, success is a team effort. Imagine what we could do if the entire nation was behind us.
As a former recipient of the Murphy Family Award and the Olympic Athlete Support Grant through the Canadian Olympic Foundation, I can attest to the impact of donor support.
For me, donor support means opportunity. It opens doors to additional training camps, travel to international tournaments or engaging challenging sparring partners. This means I can be around people who will push me, make me a better athlete and broaden my perspective.
Donor support is crucial because all of these elements – the training, the travel, the competition – are necessary to get where I want to go and to highlight women’s boxing.
My Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 was a test of my resilience and adaptability, and I emerged a stronger athlete. I’m ready to take on the world next summer in Paris, and inspire generations to come.
You can help make our dreams come true. You can boost our Olympic journey to the top of the podium.
Please consider making a donation today.
With your help, Team Canada will continue to thrive, create a new legacy and inspire generations to come.
sincerely,
Tamara Thibault
