Football: Tafont Final
On Saturday and Sunday, the amateur football team of the Borsod-Abaj-Zemplén District participated in the quarter-finals of Tafont in Cegled. Head coach István Kristun’s team finished in fourth place, losing the semifinals (in which they played a long-time man at a disadvantage) and the bronze medal match.
The stakes at the weekend’s quarter-finals were that the team that wins the tournament will not only be able to call itself the best Hungarian amateur team in this year’s series, but will also qualify for the UEFA Regional Cup qualifiers. In 2024, where – at a location to be determined – you can compete with rivals from Turkish, Slovenian and San Marino.
