Index – Abroad – The new edition of Joseph Mindszenty’s memoirs is presented in Washington

A new edition of Cardinal Joseph Mindszenty’s memoirs has been published in the United States capital.

In the presentation, Daniel J. Mahoney, a university professor, writer, political analyst, and editor of the volume, illustrated the work of Joseph Mindszenty and summarized the doctrine of the character of the church. Daniel Mahoney added an explanation of the memoir, which has just been republished in the United States.

In his own words, Mendszenty was as much a Hungarian patriot as a man of the church and religion, who refused to compromise with the oppressive communist power.

Daniel Mahony spoke about the general position of the cardinal, who was imprisoned for 7 years during the communist dictatorship, against totalitarian dictatorships, pointing out that Mindszenty also rejected Nazism, because it “works against the Ten Commandments.” He then pointed out that the Cardinal was also arrested by the National Socialists after the 1944 coup.

The book launch was held in downtown Washington, in the conference room of the Memorial Foundation for Victims of Communism, which was completely packed for the occasion.
