2023. December 15 – 12:42

According to the ruling of the British Supreme Court, Prince Harry was the victim of telephone harassment by Mirror Group newspapers (MGN) and was awarded £140,600, i.e. 62.5 million Hungarian forints, in compensation. BBC writes. Sentencing, the judge said Harry’s mobile phone had been hacked between 2003 and 2009, and that 15 of the 33 items were “the result of phone hacking or other unlawful information gathering”.

The judge ruled that the Mirror Group’s newspapers engaged in “extensive” phone hacking activities between 2006 and 2011. MGN issues a statement “apologizing unreservedly” if “historical violations occurred.”

Harry has previously sued several publishers, including Rupert Murdoch’s News UK (publisher of the daily newspaper The Times and The Sun) and Associated Newspapers (publisher of Britain’s Daily Mail and Metro), saying the publishers committed a series of crimes in tort. With his privacy.

He also filed a lawsuit against the Mirror Group because, according to him, they hacked his phone and illegally collected information about him and his family, for example, they managed to hire private investigators several times. So far, the Mirror has only acknowledged using a private investigator in one case, but says publicly available sources have been used in 33 cases included in the lawsuit. However, according to the current ruling, in 15 out of 33 cases, articles about the prince were written on the basis of illegal information gathering.
