The timeline for the Intel Core Ultra 200 (Arrow Lake) series remains uncertain, while the recently introduced 14th Gen processors based on Raptor Lake Refresh served as a stopgap solution following the cancellation of the Meteor Lake-S platform. However, fans may not have to wait another full year to get the latest developments: according to recent information, both AMD and Intel will release their next series around the third quarter of 2024.
Considering that the AM5 platform debuted in 2022 from AMD, we can expect a more restrained update to the platform. The AM5 platform will be supported for a long time to come, meaning that motherboards in the near future will retain support for current Zen 4 CPUs while also being compatible with the future Zen 5 series. The AMD 700 series will come with AMD Ryzen 8000 “Granite Ridge” CPUs.
We can expect bigger changes from Intel, as it will move from LGA-1700 to LGA-1851. This system marks the end of support for DDR4 memory, but better compatibility with PCIe Gen5 is expected. The LGA 1851 socket will debut with Arrow Lake-S desktop CPUs. Intel's 800 product family will include the Z890, H860 and H810, while the W880/Q870 chipsets will also be workstation-ready.
