A large portion of the damage to homes occurs during the Christmas and New Year period – Economy – News

The Christmas holidays and New Year's Eve are among the most risky periods from a home insurance point of view, similar to the summer storm season – Netrisk noted in a statement sent to MTI on Monday.

The insurance portal stressed the need to use Christmas candles, candlesticks and torches with extreme caution, as the number of fires doubles during this period. During the holidays, you should also pay attention to candles, candelabra, sparklers and short-circuit lights, but heating appliances, such as stoves, are also the source of many house fires.

Regardless of Christmas, it is useful to equip the property with a smoke alarm, or, in the case of gas heating, with a certified and reliable carbon monoxide detector – the portal quoted Marton Bisneau, Managing Director of Netrisk, who also drew attention to the fact that if something goes wrong To mitigate the damage, it is necessary to quickly and accurately document the damage event, which facilitates the administration of compensation. According to his information, the average annual premium for new home insurance policies concluded at Netrisk this year amounted to 35,000 Hungarian forints in mid-December.

Many insurance premiums rise with annual inflation – mentioned the specialist, who believes that it will be beneficial for everyone to have insurance for their home, because there may be new offers that are more favorable than the current ones, and next year it will be possible to change insurance not only on the anniversary. Annually, but also in March.
