The “reasonableness” law was part of broader judicial reforms introduced by the Netanyahu government. The government also attempted to gain more power over the appointment of judges and remove the obligation of ministers to obey their legal advisors. Netanyahu said the changes are necessary to restore balance between judges and politicians.
