Hong Kong will take on Canada and Malaysia in a one-day tri-series, as the teams begin their preparations for the Cricket World Cup

The Hong Kong men face another busy year of cricket, with tournaments coming thick and fast as they prepare for the T20 and ODI World Cup.

In preparation for the latter, Hong Kong will host a one-day tri-series against Canada and Malaysia towards the end of this month.

This will be the Canadian team's first time playing in the city, as the two teams will face off in a home-and-away tournament at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground from January 31 to February 5.

The series is the first of three that Hong Kong will take part in over the next few months, with the East Asia Cup, featuring Japan and China, in February, and the Quadrangular Championship in March.

April brings the qualifiers for next year's T20 Asia Cup, and the first round of the 2027 One-Day World Cup Challenge League will also kick off later this year.

Over the summer, the Hong Kong men will also begin their bid to reach the T20 World Cup in 2026, with the first stage of the regional qualifiers in July.

First up are Canada and Malaysia, and Burji Shroff, president of the Hong Kong China Cricket Association, said he was looking forward to “showcasing top-class cricket talent.”

Tournament schedule (All matches at 9 a.m.): Hong Kong vs. Canada (Jan. 31); Malaysia v Canada (February 1); Hong Kong v Malaysia (February 3); Final (February 4); 3rd place vs Hong Kong A (5 February).
