Thousands of German farmers took to the streets on Monday, blocking highways, because the federal government led by Olaf Scholz will implement austerity measures in the agricultural sector. It turns out that the majority of Germans support the demonstrations, according to what was reported Bild.

German polling organization INSA commissioned Bild newspaper to conduct a survey on the social perception of agricultural demonstrations. A total of 1,001 citizens were interviewed on January 8, 2024.
The research revealed that 69 percent of those surveyed support farmers' protest against the planned restrictions.
The greatest support comes from the right: 88% of AfD voters believe that demonstrations are appropriate. But other participants also sympathize with the farmers' actions.

The results show that more than half of respondents (64 percent) sympathize with farmers' aspirations, while only 11 percent understand the goals of climate protesters. However, the vast majority of Green voters side with climate activists (41 percent). Only 20 percent of farmers support the blockade imposed on Monday.
