Fifth place is just a consolation prize for the Hungarian women's national team

In the final match of the European Championship against the Croats, Greta Gorisatti suffered an eye injury and Nicolette Szabo was left out of the 15-man squad. The first quarter was the quietest eight minutes for the Hungarians in the continental competition in the Netherlands, because in addition to moving away from the opponent several times and scoring easy goals, excellent back blocks helped Nzemeli, who was moving forward to the goal, stopping five shots out of six (5-1).

In the second quarter, the French had several chances, but the Hungarian team defended brilliantly, with Kestelli leading by four goals, and Frenchwoman Mahieu-Geraldine scoring two beautiful goals against her home country's team (9-1). After the turn, the Hungarians, who had a comfortable advantage, positioned themselves mainly on defense, not allowing the opponent to score, and in some places loudly encouraging each other to foul each other or guard the opposing Hungarian player, Ursolya Hertzka. (11-1). Keszthelyi's sixth goal led to the final quarter of the European Championship – with Vályi curling a beautiful pass into the net – the French broke their passive silence of more than twenty minutes midway through the match, before a time-out preceded the number. However, the competitor had no chance of achieving partial success, and the end was 14-3.

The most successful player in the match was Rita Kesthili with six goals. With the defeat in the quarter-finals against the Italians, it has already been decided that the Hungarian team will not obtain an Olympic quota in the European Championship, and its last chance to do so will be at the World Championships in Doha next February.
