You won't believe your eyes at the improvement in the new update based on the comparison video! [VIDEO]

A video showcasing Starfield's graphics in the new beta shows several improvements over the game's current version 1.8.88.

Starfield is improving some of its lighting effects, as evidenced by a new video showing the overall improvement in the game's graphics. The changes are part of Steam's latest beta, with developer Bethesda Game Studios working on more than 100 improvements for the Starfield 1.9.47.0 update.

Starfield is powered by Bethesda's Creation Engine 2, and several features have been implemented to make the game work on current generation hardware. Although Creation Engine 2 is an improvement over the original engine that powered titles like Fallout 4 and Skyrim, it received a lot of criticism from players and critics. The updates fixed some issues, but Starfield's graphics remain a source of criticism among some players. However, the latest update aims to improve the game's graphics further, as shown in a recent video.

What can we expect from Starfield in 2024?

Bethesda has an aggressive content schedule for Starfield 2024, which means fans know exactly what to expect in the new year.

Thanks to player feedback, Bethesda has released Starfield update 1.9.47.0 via Steam beta. This focuses on quality of life improvements, quest fixes, and a number of other multi-area changes, including graphics. The 40 or so fixes focus on graphics, and Reddit user TERAB1T showed a comparison between the current version of Starfield (left) and beta 1.9.47.0 (right). The video shows amazing results, on the right you can see the improved lighting compared to Starfield version 1.8.88. In the video, we only see the player character interacting with Francesca “Frankie” Moore, an NPC from Starfield who lives on the planet Neon. However, the video shows how much has changed since December 2023.

One issue that users pointed out in the comments is the lighting effect of the reflectors in Starfield. A light effect is basically lighting that shines brightly above the character, illuminating certain areas such as the head and shoulders. The video shows the changes to the effect, to the point where it no longer exists in Starfield 1.9.47.0. Other comments praised the graphical upgrades, though some users shared complaints about the game's filter. “It's a muddy brown desaturation filter [Neon] One user wrote: “Makes the entire planet look dull and mysterious, not a good kind of mystery.”

The video above shows just part of the changes available in Starfield 1.9.47.0 update in Steam beta. By the way, Bethesda will continue to provide updates every six weeks as part of the 2024 Starfield roadmap.
