A small camera tumor tablet that revolutionizes bowel cancer diagnosis and treatment.
To replace the troublesome bowel reflex, a new device has been developed in the UK with a compact miniature camera that can be used as a tablet – I mentioned it in the Daily Mail.
The new gadget, said Genevieve Edwards, CEO of Bowel Cancer UKIt could be a big change for people with symptoms of bowel cancer and is helping the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) prioritize those who urgently need more testing.“.
Bowel cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer in the UK – more than 42,000 new cases are diagnosed each year and 16,500 lost their lives as a result.
It is often noticed so late because patients ultimately only want to undergo the uncomfortable procedure in which doctors lead a thin tube with a camera through the rectum and into the colon.
However, the inconvenience may end soon, however, by taking the new tablet, patients can continue their daily lives without having to stay in the hospital.
The tablet is the size of a larger vitamin tablet, and when swallowed, it travels the same way in the intestine as food.
The device takes about 400,000 images through the intestine.
To find any abnormalities, such as cancer or inflammatory bowel disease, it sends it to a machine that’s worn over the patient’s waist.
Doctors then download the images and prepare a report, which produces results much faster than if the patient underwent an X-ray or colonoscopy. Finally, the capsule can be removed from the toilet with a stool.
Before the test, patients must follow a strict diet and take strong laxatives the day before the test so that the camera can take the clearest pictures possible.
If the solution works, a new form of diagnosis can replace invasive colonoscopy as well as X-rays.
The devices, which can deliver results in just five hours, are being sent to test 11,000 NHS patients across the country for testing across the country.
