The latest update to Rockstar Games Launcher also drops support for some older Windows systems. Now is really the time to switch.
02.02.2024 – I know this may seem strange to some, but there are still a lot of people using Windows 7 and 8. The reason for this is, among other things, that some people find it difficult to give up the things they are used to, and others simply do not have the money to update their devices. However, Microsoft is doing its best to convince everyone to switch. Little by little, support for Windows 10 is also ending, and the situation is such that gamers will no longer be left with the old Windows operating system. At the beginning of January, the Steam app on Win 7 and 8 was completely shut down, but if that wasn't enough, the next hit came. Latest update for Rockstar Games Launcher End it
Support Windows 7 and Windows 8.
What???
Well, okay, I guess it's not a huge surprise, although it still represents the end of an era. Well, it wasn't that long ago, was it? The Rockstar Games Launcher, which debuted in September 2019, is the GTA developer's hub and store, where we can access 11 games from the beginning of 2024. When it first came out, GTA: San Andreas was added for free, so everyone could download it. Now, however, it simply won't work with Win 7 and 8 users, so games can't be played from it either.
This should not come as a surprise to news followers, as Rockstar announced this as early as October 2023, after Microsoft stopped providing security updates for these operating systems. So you have time to prepare. Therefore, RGL (loosely RGL) is only available on Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.
However, it is interesting that RGL has not received many updates since its release, although there are some leaks suggesting that it may be separated from the Rockstar Games Social Club platform, which Rockstar wants to phase out before GTA 6 is released on PC. Well, let GTA VI come, no matter where we start!
