A Canadian tourist opened the emergency exit door of Thai Airways (THAI.BK). The plane was about to take off from Chiang Mai Airport in the capital, Bangkok. The inflatable chute was triggered, and as a result the plane was unable to take off Reuters According to local channel ThaiPBS.

A Facebook user who was on the flight wrote, adding that the official persons supervising the plane escorted the passenger off the plane.
The plane returned to the terminal, passengers disembarked and technicians conducted safety checks. Thai Airways said that after the inspection, passengers and crew members safely left the plane.
The passenger was later seen in custody at a local police station, according to local TV channel ThaiPBS, which identified the man as a Canadian tourist. The perpetrator explained his action by saying that he saw people following him.
