The United States has decided to impose visa restrictions on companies and their leaders who support illegal immigration, the US State Department announced on Wednesday.
Spokesman Matthew Miller said visa restrictions imposed under federal immigration law could apply to owners and managers of air, sea and marine travel companies that use their services to facilitate illegal immigration into the United States.
Those who come to the United States without a legal basis often pay large amounts and put themselves and their families at risk, the statement cited by MTI said.
Currently, the State Department does not name the individuals and companies subject to sanctions, and the decision creates the possibility of punitive measures.
Also on Wednesday, the US State Department announced tracking charges worth $15 million (about 5.5 billion Hungarian forints) against cybercriminals. According to the call, they are members of the LockBit ransomware-related hacker group, to which more than 2,000 attacks can be linked, not only in the United States, but around the world. Malicious cyber attacks have caused costly data loss and disruption. They wrote that the cybercriminals obtained a total ransom of $144 million (about 51.5 billion Hungarian forints) from their victims with the help of the extortion software.
The US Treasury Department on Tuesday imposed economic sanctions on two Russian-born members of the Russia-based LockBit group.
LockBit activity was first discovered in 2019, and can be linked to a major hacker attack against the US financial institution of China's ICBC Bank on November 9 last year, which paralyzed its operation for a period of time, and emails and messages were exchanged. Devastated, there were disruptions in securities transactions as well.
