The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is now available in China and comes with a one-inch sensor and handle.
Throughout the existence of camera phones, there have always been manufacturers that have tried to offer more in terms of photography hardware and software than their competitors. There were, for example, Cybershot devices from Sony Ericsson, but the iPhone, for example, remains a favorite among those for whom such functions are important in a smartphone. From time to time, the Chinese company Xiaomi also tries to strengthen itself in this category.
Recently, for example, with 13T:
The Xiaomi 13T is here with serious photography capabilities
And now, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra has been unveiled – for now only in China – with a focus on photography. Thus, the main camera is paired with Sony's one-inch LYT-900 sensor, which is a 50-megapixel lens, and so are the other three cameras: we get a 3.2x optical zoom, a periscope with 5x zoom, and a 122-degree wide-angle. This system was developed in cooperation with Leica.
As an additional shooting accessory, a grip is available, which not only provides a more comfortable grip, but also has a separate exposure button and, in principle, we can even adjust sensitivity, shutter speed and other parameters from it. It also has an additional 1500mAh battery, which means you can take photos with it for longer.
As for the rest of the phone, like the 14 and 14 Pro, the Ultra also gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Its screen has a 6.73-inch, 1440p resolution, is capable of refreshing the image at a rate of 120 Hz, and the maximum brightness is 3,000 nits. IP68 protection has been achieved for the device's body, which covers effective dust protection and actual water resistance. The phone's battery has a capacity of 5300 mAh, and it can be charged at 90 watts. In the next few days, the world premiere will take place at Mobile World Congress.
