This mine produces more than 30 million tons of coal per year, but this wouldn't be such a remarkable achievement if we didn't know that this site is one of the most exciting fossil deposits in the world. Here they found things buried in the depths that they did not know existed until then. The findings provide insight into the Earth Age when amazing creatures dominated our planet (to us, looking at it from the present). And those creatures that seem so small today were giants, and their gigantic size shook the ground they walked on.
It is true that the discovery can be linked to the names of university students who visited the site.
Fossils of a giant turtle, a giant crocodile, and a giant prehistoric snake have been found. The latter must be at least 50 feet (about 13 meters) long, so it could be the size of a school bus. Its scientific name is Titanoboaor giant snake, which fed on crocodiles.
