Carson, California. – Canada's men lost their second straight game at HSBC SVNS Arena Los Angeles, following a 40-0 defeat to high-flying Fiji on Saturday.
On Friday, the Canadians were defeated 24-7 by France, which finished third last week in Vancouver.
Two tries from William Irajoha gave the French a 12-0 lead at the break on Saturday at Dignity Health Sports Park. Mathieu Bercellier scored to pull a goal back, only to see France take the lead through tries from Stephen Parise, Edu Martin and XV captain Antoine Dupont.
Going into their final pool game against Britain later in the day, the Canadiens had lost 12 straight games since beating France 33-7 on Dec. 10 to finish seventh in Cape Town.
Canada finished last in the Dubai, Perth and Vancouver tournaments and sits in 12th place in the season standings.
The Canadians, who are fifth in the standings coming to Los Angeles, opened group play on Friday with a 20-10 win over Britain with tries from Chrissy Scurfield, Carissa Norsten, Asia Hogan Rochester and Alisha Corrigan.
The Canadian women were scheduled to play Spain and the United States later Saturday.
The Mini Sevens circuit includes seven regular season events, each featuring a men's and women's competition, plus a grand final with promotion and relegation odds.
After Los Angeles, the teams will travel to Hong Kong and Singapore before concluding their matches in Madrid from May 31 to June 2.
