In the Trump case, a decision was issued in a Colorado court at the end of last year, against which the former president appealed. The case was eventually referred to the Federal Supreme Court, which began hearing it in early February.

President Donald Trump's name cannot be removed from the ballot.
All nine members of the court believe Trump was wrongly removed from the ballot in Colorado. However, they no longer agreed that this could not be done in any member state: only 5 of the 9 judges (previously appointed by Republicans) supported this, and the others felt that they should now only give an opinion in the Colorado case.

No state can remove the name of a former federal official, especially a president, from the ballot unless Congress passes a special law to do so.
According to the five justices' reasoning, nowhere in the US Constitution suggests that member states have the right to decide the suitability of federal officials.
