Samsung details the ProVisual Engine that powers the Galaxy S24 Ultra's cameras

Samsung seems to love infographics, recently posting one outlining the history of the company's wearables, and now another outlining the software that powers the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra's cameras, the ProVisual Engine. If you are planning to purchase the device, and if you already have it, but want to get to know its capabilities better, it is worth checking out the Samsung review.

The chart is the first to showcase improved night photography. The new 5x zoom camera on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra features twice the sensor size and 60 percent larger pixels at 1.4µm compared to the previously used 10x zoom design. The new unit has a wider stabilization angle, which means its optical image stabilizer is more advanced, too.

The sensor's operation is supported by an image processing unit with an NPU that is 42 percent faster than the background, and the shutter time is 30 percent shorter. Another innovation in ProVisual Engine is generative editing, which uses the smartphone's powerful AI to flatten, draw, resize images and fill in gaps in images.

Expert RAW now offers a new 24MP mode that combines 50MP high-resolution images with 12MP multi-frame images. The 24MP AI Fusion shots also have HDR, but not the Ultra HDR that brightens images in Gallery and Google Photos, and can only be exported in JPEG and/or RAW format.

This allows us to adjust the angle and perspective of the photo even after it has been taken, so that we can further highlight the subject we consider important in the recording.
