Team Canada is one of three teams at 3-0 at the 2024 World Women's Curling Championship in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Canada beat the United States on Sunday, 10-6.
It was a somewhat slow start for the Canadian team, skipped by Rachel Homan of Ottawa, Ontario. This is because the American team passed Tabitha Peterson and scored two points in the first end due to an error by the third Canadian, Tracy Fleury. The United States then took a 3-2 lead after three games, before Canada took control. In ends four through nine, Canada outscored the United States 8-3 en route to a four-point victory. In the eighth end, Canada scored three points as Fleury got around two Canadian goalies and Homan made a great hit and rolled behind an American goaltender.
Two other teams had three wins and zero losses. They are Italian Stefania Constantini and Swiss Silvana Tirinzoni. Canada will face Italy and Switzerland on Tuesday after facing Norway on Monday. Tirinzoni has won the last four World Women's Curling Championships. Two other teams are above .500. They are South Korea and Denmark, who have identical records with two wins and one loss. Denmark's only loss so far came to Canada, 7-4, on Saturday.
