SNK was familiar with many fighting games in the 90s (and thus was often popular on arcade decks alongside the Neo Geo), but after Samurai Shodown and The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury would live on.
SNK has announced Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, which combines classic gameplay with the new Rev system. Following the example of Street Fighter 6, there will also be a management scheme aimed at cassowary players, because with the help of Smart Style you can easily perform special moves without knowing the genre of fighting games or their rules. The video also features Terry Bogard, Rock Howard, Hotaru Futaba, Tizoc, and newcomer Preecha.
According to SNK, the Rev system puts combat at its highest level. It provides unique attack options from the start of battle. Players can use one of the Rev Arts, Rev Accel, and Rev Blows (while the SPG is active) until the Rev bar heats up. Let's control the temperature, then keep our opponent under pressure so he can fight with all his might. Many classic Fatal Fury elements are back, including combined attack, fair defense, and evade attacks. These systems return after more than 25 years and have evolved to suit the modern era. Because of this, the battles will be extremely fierce.
We can choose between two types of control systems. Arcade Style relies on precise artistic input, while Smart Style allows you to perform flashing special moves and combos by changing directions and pressing a single button. From newcomers to fighting games to veteran players, everyone will be able to perform tricks using appropriate controls tailored to their level. So Capcom's idea was taken by SNK.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be released sometime in 2025, but SNK has not announced target platforms. Not just because of the successor to the Nintendo Switch?
